The museum's heart is a Paarhof farm (2 almost identical two-storey buildings, the roof ridges of which run parallel) with a granary. Next to the farm is a so-called Seitenflurhaus (building, where the main entrance is at the gable end) dating back to the 17th century. The building demonstrates well the modest circumstances the rural population has lived in for a long time.
The complex also features several agricultural installations that are operated by the water power of the Lehnbach brook. An extensive collection of different tools completes the exhibition. Tools include a saw, a mill and a so-called "Pluidl" machine for flax processing. Up to the 19th century flax was a major source of income of the farmers in the Ötztal valley.
The museum is open from 01 June to 30 September. The Ötztal Local Heritage Museum is closed on Saturdays and public holidays.
